Sharing access to your server

You can open your server to other people — a co-admin, a friend who looks after the plugins, a moderator who restarts the server — without ever giving out your password. Each person signs in with their own account and only sees what you allow.

Invite someone

  1. In the client area, open your server, then the Shared access tab.
  2. Click Invite someone and enter their email address.
  3. Choose their permissions (see below), then Invite.

If you own the server, we send that person an email with the link to the client area. You can also pass it on yourself.

What the invited person needs to do

  1. Sign in to the client area — or create an account there — with exactly the invited address.
  2. The server shows up in My servers.

They may also receive an automatic message pointing to a "panel": it can be ignored, that interface is not open to customers.

The available permission sets

  • Can play with the console: start, stop, restart and send commands. Nothing else.
  • Can manage the content: the console, plus files, SFTP, creating backups and reading everything else. No restoring or deleting backups, no settings.
  • Can manage everything but invitations: every permission, except inviting other people or changing their permissions.
  • Custom: you tick each permission yourself, group by group (console, files, backups, scheduler, settings, activity, shared access…).

Grant the minimum that's useful: downloading a backup, for instance, gives access to all of the server's files, and reinstalling rewrites the game files.

Changing or removing access

In the list, Edit rights adjusts an existing access; Remove access deletes it immediately. Every addition, change or removal is recorded in the server's Activity log.

Good to know

  • As the owner, you keep every permission: you can neither remove yourself nor take a permission away from yourself.
  • Someone allowed to invite cannot grant a permission they don't have themselves.
  • For file access from an SFTP client, each invited person adds their own key: see SFTP.
  • While a server is suspended, its shared access can no longer be changed.
